The first 3 days of this weeks we have had good weather in the mornings, it started the week with hot weather until Thursday when we experience some cold and some north wind, this just lasted a couple of days but today the day is been excellent for any water activities. Temperatures for today are: minimum 57 F. maximum 85 F.
Yellowtail (jurel)
Early on the week we have had good fishing days on the north of Carmen island in the area of Loto about 14 miles east of Loreto, in this area the good fishing depends on the fact that the yellowtails start eating on the surface early in the morning. The yellowtail captured in this place weights between 20 to 40 pounds and the boats captured about 5 pieces per boat. In the San Bruno area 14 miles north of Loreto the capture of yellowtail was good, they weighted 20 to 30 pounds all this happened during the beginning of this week. We also have reports of yellowtail on the north side of Catalina Island this island is 35 miles from Loreto, and El Pulpito area 30 miles from Loreto. Right now I am receiving a report in the radio from Capitan Antonio Aguiar that they are at Catalina Island that he captured 7 yellowtails that weighted 20 or 30 pounds and 4 cabrillas that weighted around 10 to 20 pounds.
This last week Yellowtails are in different areas it is just needed luck to find them hungry for bait since they have a lot of sardine, mackerel and calamari to eat.
Deep fishing like pargo and Cabrillas has been captured in the same areas of Yellowtail and the areas with more success are Punta Norte Catalina Island.
Live bait, we recommend to buy it in the morning before fishing, so you do not have to waste time capturing bait. The prices are as follow 10 pieces $15.00 or 20 pieces for $25.00.
This past week we showed pictures of Mr. Simon Semaan and friends, where we showed great fishing of Yellowtail.
I want to send my condolences and love to the family of Francisco Aguilar owner of Pirates Fishing Fleet in La Paz.
